THE OFFICE

is taking over my life.

This week NYC public high school students have off for Regents Exams. When I haven't been at school taking a test, I have been at home watching The Office from Netflix's Instant Watch in front of the computer. The first four days of vacation I averaged around 17 episodes per day and by the fourth day of this strategy I had finished the show.

A couple things on the show, in general:

-Pam and Jim. (Important: Is their couple-nickname Jam or Pim?) Pam and Jim are cute. To clarify, I mean pirate-baby-ipod-nano-Martha-Stewart-cupcake-tiny-toiletry-ballroom-dancing-kitten-adorable-Easter-egg-small-puppy-cute cute. Whoever said office romances are calamities-in-the-making have obviously not seen this show.

-Dwight K. Shrute. Most fascinating character on the show, hands-down. In addition, his bear/beet/Battlestar Gallactica/karate fixations are the perfect touch to his ridiculous and shocking persona. Plus, Rainn Wilson, his real name, has a very unique and interesting face that is appropriate to such an absurd character. Upon my internet research I found that NBC has a ficticious blog of Dwight K. Shrute, which was very surprising in a Disney-channel-dot-come-kind-of-way. Although a TV sitcom character blog on the NBC website seems a stupid and puerile idea, Dwight's voice was very apparent in the entries, so I am okay with its spurious being. And if I'm okay with it, then everyone is okay with it.

Here is an excerpt where he describes Christmas with the Shrutes:
Our Christmas day traditions are pretty mainstream. We wake up early to exchange small, handmade wooden presents and to slaughter our dinner—the Christmas goat. And of course, if a Schrute has been particularly good that year, then Kris Von Kindl fills his stockings with coal, a highly desired source of fuel during long, cold Pennsylvania winters.

What do you think? Dwight K. Shrute-y enough?

-ALSO,
B.J. NOVAK IS THE MAN.

B.J. plays the temp/fire-man Ryan Howard. Upon more internet research, I discovered that B.J. was a high school buddy with Office co-star,
John Krasinski, who plays the charming Jim of Jam or Pim. No wonder the two have good bromance chemistry. Also, B.J. does stand up at varying colleges that is accesible on youtube. He's actually pretty hilarious, sometimes. See him talk about google maps, the triple-threat, and Anita Smith here.
