Playoffs, here we come!

We made it into the PSAL high school bowling play-offs everyone! Drinks all around! Tomorrow is our game.

I don't have anything else to say about that.
I'll let you know how it goes.

I end this post with an interesting image I've found, while on google images:

I showed K., and she said her outfit looks like what I wear to bowl.
Not cool K., not cool.

YES WE CAN!

We did it, we won. I am crying tears of euphoria! I am so happy right now, I am so happy! It is amazing that this is happening! I am right in the middle of this. Right now. 2008. The first, ever Black President of the United States of America. President-elect Barack Obama. Barack Obama's presence is inspirational. We can bring change for our country, so long as his focus and ideals will not sway. The world will see us in a new light. America can bring back the morals and ideals that we have forgotten. Now, I know he's only human, and it's impossible to fix everything. But I believe that Obama can help.

“If there is anyone out there who still doubts that America is a place where all things are possible, who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time,” President-elect Barack Obama said minutes ago, “tonight is your answer.”

Hope for CHANGE

In a few hours, we will find out who will be the next President of the United States of America. North America.

I am surprisingly very emotional, and incredibly nervous. I have been following the campaigns, debates, and SNL like a maniac for the last few months, and soon we will all know. I don't even know what to say right now. I'm just praying that we will win. This is horribly trite, but it is time for a change, and it really needs to happen now. I can't stand living in a country with this many flaws. SO many things need to be fixed. SO MANY!

Whatever happens, today will be legendary. The first black president or the first woman vice president will be inaugurated. History is about to be made, and I'm right in the middle of it. My English teacher said that my generation seems to be the first "politically correct" one. She says that we are the people who will grow up and change life as we know it. Mind you, I attend an arts school, so all of us are incredibly liberal, but still.

I am ambivalent, antsy, nervous, terrified, tense, worried, but ready, proud, passionate, inspired, and hopeful.

Now? I can only pray, and hope that America votes for a change. I think Obama and Biden can do this.

Marathons and Miracles

Today is the New York City Marathon! 39,000 people have trained brutally for months, and now is their day to shine! and sweat! and hurt! everywhere! But most importantly, it is their day to fight, and fight for something. It is the perfect day, clear and cool, and runners are decked out in spandex undies and sportsbras!

I was just at 86th street and 1st avenue, which is around 17 miles into the race, and the atmosphere was utterly incredible. People were cheering on the sidelines, some with supportive signs like "GO JENNY" and some with interactive, supportive signs like "FREE HUGS HERE!" There was a rock band playing on the street with amps bigger than myself.

The marathon is simply inspiring. To see people with missing limbs using crutches to get through the rigorous 27 mile course is remarkable. And you can bet it that they're fighting, whether it's to win a high-staking bet or to prove to the world that they can, they're fighting.

I've officially decided that I'm going to run the race before I die. (I'm sure bowling has kept me physically apt for it!) Or attempt to.
